There are various manufacturers of this type of system.
New recommendations from the BSI (British Standards institute) regarding home battery installations, including those in loft spaces, has outlined that solar batteries are not to be installed in Voids, roof spaces or lofts. However, official regulations allow them to be installed as long as certain requirements are met. These include having a mains fire alarm linked throughout the whole property, proper lighting and an easily accessible entrance.
PAS 63100:2024 is a specification related to electrical installations and protection against fire of battery energy storage systems for use in dwellings. The provisions aim to reduce the risk of batteries in dwellings becoming a source of ignition and to limit the impact of a battery fire if one occurs. While PAS 63100:2024 outlines that solar batteries should not be installed in voids, roof spaces or lofts, it’s essential to note that it is not a regulation but a best practice guide.
Remember to stay informed about the required regulations and best practices when choosing your installer, and more importantly where your system will be installed.
